Mr. Shafaie joined SolarReserve after working as an attorney at the New York and London offices of Linklaters LLP. Mr. Shafaie’s practice included a diverse client base of project sponsors, commercial lenders and multilateral lenders in the energy sector, with a focus on development and project finance. Mr. Shafaie has been involved in several award-winning project finance transactions including the development of South America’s first LNG regasification facility and the financing of one of the largest petrochemical plants in the Middle East. His experience includes negotiation and drafting of a wide range of legal agreements, including commercial contracts and financing documents. Prior to Linklaters, Mr. Shafaie interned in the legal department of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) and was a consultant to the Federal Republic of Ethiopia in respect of international humanitarian law claims before the Eritrea-Ethiopia Claims Commission at The Hague.
Mr. Shafaie has a JD from the University of California, Berkeley (Boalt Hall) and a BA in History from the University of California, Berkeley. Mr. Shafaie also studied international relations at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Paris.
